Exploring Corpus Christi

Exploring Corpus Christi

January 1st was a Wisconsin November day in Corpus Christi. Sun turning to clouds. Fairly warm cooling to low 50s with a cool breeze that was chilling. The temperature is so misleading when you get near the ocean and the breeze is coming off of it. Initially I was near downtown and there was quite a difference in temperature within a mile. One of the places I was encouraged to explore was Heritage Park. This is similar to what other…

Happy New Year from Corpus Christi, Texas

Happy New Year from Corpus Christi, Texas

Today is the first day of a new year! Although it’s an artificial date, I like to think it mentally gives us a chance to assess the previous year, think of what we want to pursue and/or change in the coming year and do it. The feeling is of a “clean slate”. It doesn’t really matter if it is real or not. It’s the perception that counts. 😊 So let’s go to it!! I wish for each of you, a…

Blowout – Part III

Blowout – Part III

I spent Christmas Eve, Christmas and the weekend at Staybridge Suites just about 8 miles away. Nice room with a full kitchen that was stocked with dishware and pots and pans. so it seems to be set up for people using it as an apartment if necessary. So I loaded in my suitcase, my groceries, my litter box, my cat food, my two cats, my computer, my jackets, did I forget anything??!!πŸ˜› Good grief. Gumble is so easy to transfer…

BlowOut Part II

BlowOut Part II

The Three Musketeers To continue….After I had pulled onto the spur road, and Rosie and Jason left, I started making phone calls to the RV dealership I wanted it towed to. I also made contact with the tow truck company and the driver…Quintin. We ended up phoning each other quite a bit as to where I was and where the RV was going and the condition of the RV so he knew what kind of vehicle to bring to tow…

Meeting a Texas Sheriff !!

Meeting a Texas Sheriff !!

Well today (Dec. 21 ) held some surprises for me! So I’m going to tell you about one of them right away! πŸ€— Today was moving day. So after dumping my tanks, I was on the road by 9:45 a.m. . I had 265 miles to drive to Palmetto State Park. It is 65 miles east of San Antonio, Texas. The state highways down to Houston were pretty good and then I took a relatively newly constructed bypass around the…

Texas- Undulating Hills & Rain

Texas- Undulating Hills & Rain

On Dec. 11th, I traveled 225 miles from Arkansas into Texas to Martin Dies Jr. State Park. The roads were state highways and in really good shape! I did not have to dodge poorly patched areas, holes, etc. No road construction! The trip took just over 4 1/2 hours with one 15min. stop. Unfortunately I drove through a lot of rain!! It had been raining off and on overnight but I was fortunate enough to have a 1 hour window…

Millwood State Park , Arkansas.

Millwood State Park , Arkansas.

I have driven south from Creator of Diamonds State Park to this park. It’s on Millwood Lake and it’s a real lake! It does not have a forest of cypress trees growing in it and it is much deeper! It is another man-made lake. The state park is in the shadow of the causeway and the dam. My site is just wonderful. I really like it here! As you can see I have a view right down the bay to…

Still a bunch of…

Crater of Diamond State Park

Crater of Diamond State Park

Crater of Diamond State Park, Murfreesboro, Arkansas Let the search begin!! I drove up here from Lake Bistineau State Park today through much appreciated sun! It was SO good to have sun again after 3 days of rain off & on and clouds.  A 3 hour drive, but real good roads for a change! So, this park is the site of a former massive volcano that brought up diamonds from the deep. The first diamond was found in 1906 here….

Lake Fausse Delivers

Lake Fausse Delivers

Could you tell I was a little bit blase about Lake Fausse Pointe at this time of year in my last writing? It seemed pretty sparse with animals and birds, and after two days of rain the trails were all wet and muddy. I didn’t even want to think about the mosquitoes that might be on the trails!! 😬 Even the boardwalks had a fine coat of moss on them and were not safe for my bike, I found out….
