Waupaca S’more Fun Campground
After sleeping on my favorite couch at Nathan’s I got up to see him off to work and visit with the girls before they got on the bus at 6:30 a.m. They have morning chores with all the bunnies 🐇 (and now baby chicks and two baby ducks! ) It’s a busy but relaxed morning, because they’re up by 5:30 a.m. And “who let the dogs out? Who? Who? ” 🎶 Me! 😅 🙄
The rabbits are great, but the room they are in, is near the living room and boy do they bang around in those cages all night! So I went back to sleep after everyone left. The three dogs spread out around me sleeping as well!! 😃 Great company.
I hit the road around 11:00 a.m. Would you believe it, as soon as I turned on the truck, the engine light came on !! 😯
After all the work I had done on the truck, are you kidding me?! It ran well so I just ignored it and made my way towards Waupaca. I was going to get that RV parked at the campground no matter what!
The good news was I had no problems all the way. 🤞 And I did check the code and talked with Nathan so it’s not something that has to be taken care of right away, which is good to know!!
So, back to the campground. Getting in was like an obstacle course. 😬 They had a trailer for branches parked in one lane and another piece of equipment past that one that I maneuvered around. Then when I got near my RV, there was another car parked just on the edge of the road giving me just barely enough room to get through between their RV’s outside items on one side and the car on the other. I joked with the lady, Wendy, later (as she was there while I edged by and said I was okay) that it was like a test to see if I could get to my site! 😯😂
So here is my big empty site, waiting for me. 😊
Now the fun begins. 😬 So here is the challenge. I could pretty well park anywhere in my site as long as I stay on the concrete pad. However, it is more complicated now because my sewer hookup is that solid PVC piping. So I have to line it up exactly in order to hook up.And I mean exactly.
It probably took about 20 minutes. The first 10 minutes was me backing it up onto the pad…stopping, getting out to assess where I was, getting back in and continuing or making adjustments. Then the next 10 minutes was going forward and backward and gradually moving the RV over closer to the piping and then straightening the RV out. The final part was just an inch here an inch there, in and out of the truck a lot until it was lined up. I could not make the connection though, at all. Craig and a helper, Steve, were working nearby clearing leaves and branches from the day sites. So I went over and asked for their help. Steve came over, took the connectors apart and secured them. I would not have been able to do that because of my broken wrist. It really takes two hands with some strength. So finally it was lined up and secured! Hooray! 👏
This summer I do not plan on taking the RV anywhere. Of course this is because of the unreliability of the truck. So I had to make sure my jacks were positioned well. One front Jack seems to be a little shorter than the other and I always have to adjust by adding some material or rug under it. But I knew that was not going to work for 6 months. So I took a half inch by 8 ft board I had here and spent about 10 minutes off and on, sawing a section off with my left hand. It went better than expected!! Then I positioned that over my blocks under the jack. That helped equalize the pressure on the jacks when they were extended. Once the jacks were all in place, I unhooked.
Hooked up the water, hooked up the electric, ran out the slides and we are now home. 🏡
Finally! After 2 weeks of driving over 2,000 miles, I can relax!! 😊.
As I settle in, I do plan to continue with my blogs. There are still so many beautiful places I visited to share. So if you are interested ….keep checking back. 😊
